Panthenol

Deeply hydrates and accelerates skin repair

Repairs

Accelerates natural wound healing and skin cell regeneration.

Hydrates

Penetrates deep to bind moisture from within, not just on the surface.

Soothes

Calms irritation, redness, and sensitivity on compromised skin.

What it is

Panthenol (Provitamin B5) is the alcohol form of pantothenic acid — a B vitamin essential for cellular metabolism and tissue repair. When applied topically, panthenol penetrates into the skin and converts to pantothenic acid, where it plays a direct role in cell proliferation and barrier repair.

How it works

After absorption, panthenol converts to pantothenic acid — a component of Coenzyme A, which is critical for fatty acid synthesis and cellular energy metabolism. This accelerates the production of new skin cells and lipids, speeding up barrier repair and wound healing. Simultaneously, panthenol acts as a humectant, drawing water into the skin and binding it there.

5%
panthenol concentration is clinically proven to accelerate skin barrier recovery by up to 2× compared to untreated skin after barrier disruption.

Panthenol in Our Formulations

Most serums protect the barrier — panthenol serum actively rebuilds it. As a provitamin B5, panthenol for skin converts to pantothenic acid after absorption, fueling Coenzyme A production — the engine behind skin cell regeneration and new lipid synthesis. That makes this vitamin B5 skincare a true barrier repair serum, not just a protective layer. Clinical studies show panthenol hydration penetrates deeper than surface humectants, binding moisture from within rather than sitting on top. Its wound healing skincare properties accelerate recovery from irritation, exfoliation, and environmental damage — making it the ideal partner for active ingredients that stress the barrier. Combined with Retinol to cushion the renewal process, Salicylic Acid to repair after exfoliation, and Hyaluronic Acid for layered hydration. Supported by Niacinamide for internal ceramide production — all built on a Ceramide 3 foundation. Explore the full formulation in The Serum B5 on Amazon.

Why we chose it

Panthenol is Ceramide 3’s natural partner. Ceramides are the mortar in the brick-and-mortar barrier structure. Panthenol accelerates the production of those bricks (new cells) and that mortar (new lipids). Together, they don’t just reinforce the barrier — they actively rebuild it.
