Squalane

Lightweight oil that mirrors your skin's own moisture

Lightweight

Absorbs instantly without leaving a greasy or heavy residue.

Locks In

Creates a non-occlusive seal that prevents moisture loss all day.

Biocompatible

Identical to your skin's natural sebum — zero irritation, zero reactions.

What it is

Squalane is a hydrogenated, shelf-stable form of squalene — a lipid your skin naturally produces as part of its sebum. Plant-derived squalane (from olives or sugarcane) is molecularly identical to what your body makes, making it one of the most biocompatible moisturizing ingredients available.

How it works

Squalane integrates directly into the intercellular lipid matrix of the stratum corneum — the same space where Ceramide 3 operates. It fills gaps in the lipid barrier without disrupting its structure, creating a smooth, continuous moisture seal. Because it mirrors natural sebum, skin accepts it immediately — no adjustment period, no breakout risk, no comedogenic concerns.

Clear squalane oil drop as perfect sphere on fresh olive surface

12%
of your skin’s natural sebum is squalene — squalane replenishes exactly what aging, UV exposure, and environmental stress deplete over time.

Squalane in Our Formulations

Your skin already makes squalene — but production drops sharply after age 30. Our squalane oil replenishes exactly what’s lost. As an olive derived squalane, this lightweight face oil is molecularly identical to your sebum, making it the ultimate biocompatible skincare ingredient. Unlike heavy creams, squalane for skin absorbs instantly as a non-greasy oil that integrates directly into the lipid matrix — the same layer where Ceramide 3 operates. That’s what makes it a true squalane moisturizer: not a coating, but a structural repair. As a squalane barrier repair ingredient, it keeps ceramides flexible and functional — preventing the brittleness that leads to cracking, sensitivity, and moisture loss. Combined with Hyaluronic Acid for deep water-binding hydration, Vitamin E for lipid-layer antioxidant protection, and Panthenol for accelerated cell renewal. Supported by Aloe Vera for soothing delivery and Niacinamide to boost internal ceramide production — all on a Ceramide 3 foundation. Explore the full formulation in The Serum SQ on Amazon.

Why we chose it

Ceramide 3 is the mortar in the skin barrier. Squalane is the oil that keeps that mortar flexible and functional. Without adequate lipids, ceramides become brittle and the barrier cracks. Squalane keeps the ceramide matrix supple, workable, and resilient — the perfect complement for any skin type.
